With the ever-changing automotive world, it's imperative that everyone learns more about the latest vehicles on the market and how they're changing under-the-hood. One of the most significant changes is the expanding lineup of electric vehicles. While these EV models have many similar parts to a gasoline-powered vehicle, they do come with their own mechanical issues, precautions, and advantages. This is extremely important to understand, especially when you're a First Responder and need to act quickly and cautiously.
To help the First Responders around Boyertown have a better understanding of how to safely respond to future incidents involving EVs, our Fred Beans Ford of Boyertown service center provided a First Responders EV training session. The sessions were led by our Service Center Director, Mark Malizzi, and Technician, William Shaner. Mark Malizzi is a Vice President and Chaplin at the Boyertown Fire and Rescue as well, which was helpful in initiating the training to occur. This, in turn, maintained a supportive relationship between Fred Beans Ford of Boyertown and the surrounding community.
First Responders who attended the training were given the opportunity to get an up-close look at EVs, how they work, and how they are maintained. They learned about parts of electric vehicles as well, including motors, wiring, battery areas, and more. All of this training will help them better understand how to deal with an electric vehicle if it's involved in an emergency situation.
